What dosage should you use for a cup of ceremonial cacao?

The right dosage of cacao for you can depend on your focus for your cup, how sensitive you are, your intention for drinking the cacao, whether you are pregnant, or other factors.

You can read about dosage in this blog post, the FAQ on the website, and now also listen to the cacao podcast, depending on how you prefer to receive information.

This is because it's one of the questions I receive most often.

I messed around with this myself initially. And I've experimented with the correct dosage. But just like with life, it changes depending on what I need.

・ 10-15 g 🤎
For those sensitive to cacao's potent qualities, for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, on antidepressant medication, or have health issues with their heart (always consult your doctor if you are unsure, have health challenges or are pregnant).

・ 25-35 g 🤎
Called the meditative dose, as support for meditation
(Some would say it is specifically 28g).

・ 42.5-55 g 🤎
The so-called ceremonial dose to truly feel cacao's embrace.

Often, (25-35 g) is the most commonly used dose.
My recommendation is often to start with this dose for one cup, drink half, wait 20 minutes, and then feel if you want to enjoy the rest of your cup.

You can't really overdose on cacao.
But the right amount varies from person to person, depending on what you need.
If your system is very sensitive, start with a smaller amount.

Regardless of the dose, it is important to stay hydrated throughout.
To avoid discomfort in the body, headaches, etc., it is important to stay hydrated, possibly eat afterwards, or eat some fruit along the way.

Even small amounts can stimulate digestion, make you feel a little lightheaded, cause headaches or slight heart palpitations if you don't stay hydrated, because cacao can increase blood flow by up to 30% 🤎

To absorb the cacao even better, you can fast for 3 hours beforehand.
To absorb your cup even better, you can fast before the cacao, avoid eating for 3 hours beforehand or only eat very lightly, such as fruit, but make sure to drink plenty of fluids 🍊

It varies greatly what works best, and some may need a little fruit or food in their stomach before, during, or after.

Try it out and feel what works for you.

Perhaps you'd like to share in the comments how you experience the best cacao moment ~ fasting, eating a little beforehand? 🤎
