Cacao Breath Meditation

Here you will find the guide to Cacao Breath Meditation

Listen to the meditation here (voice+music)

Listen to the playlist on Spotify here

This meditation is created for you to embody a deeper connection with Mama Cacao and allow her energy to unfold through your movements and sensations.

You can use this meditation to connect deeper to what qualities Mama Cacao holds for you by sensing the energy physically.

It is also a meditation that I would recommend if you want another way to get in touch with the messages and insights of cacao after you have consumed it.

This meditation can be done whether you have consumed cacao or not. But it is originally created for after you have finished your cacao.

The meditation has roots in various meditation techniques

Constellation work, body awareness, Somatic Experience and working with felt sense. Connecting to our felt sense means allowing ourselves to track all our sensations in the outer physical layers and internally (interoception).

Instructions

The meditation lasts 30 minutes and consists of 3 stages.

You will need to sit, stand up and move, and then lie down for integration, so make sure you have a place where you can do this.

First stage - 7 minutes

After you have finished your cup of cacao, find a place where you can sit comfortably for 7 minutes.

Settle in comfortably and close your eyes. Observe your natural breathing for a few breaths. Place your hands on your heart and lean back into it. Melt into your heart.

You can now start the playlist.

With your hands on your heart, you can now begin to include a greater focus on your breathing. Begin to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Let it be a cyclical breath with no pauses between inhalation and exhalation.

Imagine that you only use energy for your inhalation – your exhalation is completely effortless – it releases naturally on its own.

You can now tune into your felt sense, sensing and feeling your body, as you continue your deep, cyclical breathing.

Where do you feel the most energy?

Or where is there a sensation that calls for your attention the most?

Place your hand or both hands on this spot and observe this sensation. Perhaps sensations change character or shift. Perhaps there will be another place in or on your body where attention calls even more – so let your hands follow.

The intention is that throughout the first stage, you combine your breathing with the movement of your hands. The breathing keeps you present – it is your anchor to the present moment and enhances sensitivity. Placing your hands helps you stay more focused and makes it easier to track internal sensations.

If you come into contact with emotions, feel how it feels in your body and track these sensations. Make space if the emotions need expression, such as anger, tears, or laughter.

The music changes when the second stage begins.

Second stage - 16 minutes

Take this meditative energy from the first stage and calmly stand up.

Ask yourself where the spirit of cacao would place itself in the room? And go to the place in the room where you feel energetically drawn.

Throughout this stage, we focus on continuing the deep breathing, while also continuing to say "yes" to the energy of Mama Cacao and how she wants to move you. Let Mama Cacao's energy from within unfold outwards – as you dance with the cacao, and your body is merely a channel for the movements and the way she moves you.

Let the pace be calm and with gentle movements, so you can more easily sense your body and stay connected to your breath, which creates internal movement.

If you find yourself spacing out, getting too much into your head and thoughts, you can simply return to focusing on your breath and feeling how the energy wants to move your body.

When the music changes, prepare for the 3rd Stage.

Third stage - 10 minutes

Prepare to lie down and simply integrate. The energy you have set in motion from the first 2 stages can now settle within you.

When the music ends, the meditation is over.

When you have come back to yourself, it can be nice to take a moment to write down what you connected with during the meditation or at the end of the integration.
