"Am I even doing it right with the cacao when I don't feel the Cacao Spirit?"

Honestly, how hard can it be?

For me, dancing with Mama Cacao has been quite troublesome, frustrating, disappointing, healing, caring, disgusting, beautiful, embracing, repulsive, uplifting, liberating, and everything in between.

Why?

Because I doubted if I was doing it "right," well enough, and even doubted if I was good enough to involve myself in this dance with Mama Cacao.

Say Cacao Spirit... - whaaaat?!?
Like me, do you choke on Cacao when people talk about inviting "The Spirit of Mama Cacao" in?

What is that? The Spirit of Cacao? I don't know.

And I'm certainly not far enough along on my spiritual journey to connect with it. That Spirit.

I'll leave that to the more experienced Cacao drinkers.

So am I good enough when I'm in doubt?

As you can read, I've felt a bit pressured when having my moments with Mama Cacao, and my expectations have often been high and elaborate.

Doubt arose about whether I was good enough when I couldn't feel "The Spirit," feel her buzzing presence in my body, her embracing love that bursts open my heart chakra, and a fireworks display of glitter and unicorns appears.

In the shadow of all those comparisons (the one with glitter and unicorns is probably not a real comparison ;-)) and my towering expectations, both mentally, spiritually, and physically, there has been a bitter aftertaste of not having gotten "enough" out of my meetings with Mama Cacao.

My intention for a quiet, meditative moment with Mama Cacao became a mental and thinking moment, with a theme of whether I was good enough. Not quite what my intention was when I invited her to dance.

But don't worry, everything is exactly as it should be.

My experience is that what lives within you, your shadows, your challenges, all of which are the greatest gifts you can come across, come to light when we sit with Mama Cacao.

In my case, it started with a theme of not being good enough, and I had thousands of comparisons ready in the wings to make all the newly sprouted pastel colors erase themselves again, as they were not yet the brightest neon colors.

But who said neon is better than pastel, one might ask?

Mama Cacao as a mirror and an invitation to meet yourself.

Our dance with Mama Cacao reflects what you need to embrace within yourself and your life.

So, regardless of how your encounter with Mama Cacao unfolds, know that it is perfect.

It cannot and should not be other than exactly what it is.

That said, I recommend freeing yourself from expectations and comparisons, as it can save you a lot of detours.

I myself love detours, but that's a whole other story.

Detour, shortcut, direct path.

What are we trying to achieve?

What is our intention with our time with Mama Cacao?

BACK TO BASIC.

We need to lower our expectations.

I actually want to invite you (yes, that phrase is deeply adopted from all my hours with Camille) to reset everything you've heard, everything you've learned, everything you know about Mama Cacao, so you have the opportunity to form your own experiences and build a relationship with this powerful drink.

One thing I promise you is that what you need comes hand in hand with The Spirit Of Mama Cacao - yes, you read that right - The Spirit, which I am not nearly "mature" enough to feel.
But I feel it in my own way, and that's the whole point.

She shows you what you need. The next layer.

That, for me, is the essence of Mama Cacao, or in other words, The Spirit.

Lean back in the trust that everything you experience and encounter is exactly what you are meant to encounter.

Let the diversity of the encounter with her unfold, and know that some encounters are deep and all-embracing and a great inner journey.

Other encounters are filled with worries & fear.

Others with love and connectedness.

Others with mental repetitive thoughts you want to escape from.

Others are a relaxed physical encounter and a quiet moment right there in the midst of everyday chores.

Some are long, others are short.

You can dance in sync or out of sync.

Maybe you need to dance the same dance over and over again to create security.

Maybe you or she invites new ways of dancing together?

Everything is exactly as it should be, right now and right here.

Simplicity - make everything a little simpler and throw out expectations!

When you strip yourself of expectations and comparisons, you can hold space for an encounter within yourself that should not be judged, changed, or be anything other than what it is.

Just be with what lives within you.

If you're constantly one step ahead and find it hard to be in the present moment, then embrace that it's not easy in this moment.

Be with it.

Enjoy your Cacao.

Taste her.

Feel the consistency.

Meet yourself with gentleness and acceptance.

Is it easy? No, not at first.

Is it simple? Hell yes.
And Mama Cacao is in her essence deep, wondrous, all-embracing, and simple.
She is your mirror.

3 simple steps to connect with Mama Cacao in a ceremony.

1. Physically feel your body and allow what you feel to be there, without judging, without trying to change it.

2. Emotionally accept that the feelings present in your system can have space, again without judging them as good or bad; they just are.

3. Mentally embrace the entire experience and meet it with care and gentleness, as you would meet a child who needs a hug and to be held, regardless of their physical and
emotional state.

That's it.

Meet Cacao as you wish to meet life.

If you begin to practice these three steps in your encounter with Mama Cacao (and life!), you will experience a softness and acceptance begin to spread like ripples in water throughout all areas of your life.

And believe me, opening yourself to the energy and gentleness within yourself and the world makes the world a better place.

My way of meeting Mama Cacao is the way I, to the best of my ability, meet life.

This is my approach to everything I do, both in my 1:1 Breathwork sessions, my ceremonies, and my 12-month journey, which you can join, where we quiet the noise in life, so we can finally land and embrace life as it is, without judging it, but appreciating it with an open heart and the knowledge that everything we encounter is for us and not against us.
